On August 19, 2016, at approximately 2:52 PM, the Los Alamitos Police Department responded to a serious injury traffic collision on Los Alamitos Boulevard, north of Cerritos Avenue, which resulted in an occupant succumbing to their injuries. The Serious Traffic Accident Response (S.T.A.R.) Team immediately responded to the scene and will be continuing their investigation of this collision.
If anyone witnessed this collision, or has information which would assist the investigators of this matter, please telephone the Los Alamitos Police Watch Commander at (562) 431-2255, extension 426.

West Nile Virus Alert!
Mosquitos carrying the West Nile Virus have been detected in various areas throughout Southern California. The Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District advises residents to follow specific precautions to safe-guard yourselves and your family members. 1) Dump or drain any standing water. 2) Repair window and door screens. 3) Apply repellent when outdoors. 4) Avoid spending time outdoors at dawn or dusk. 5) Report mosquitoes, dead birds, abandoned swimming pools, ponds, and fountains.
