Beginning today, April 24, and over the course of the next
two months the State Board of Equalization (BOE) will be canvassing local Los
Alamitos area businesses as part of their Statewide Compliance and Outreach
Program (SCOP). The purpose of the outreach program is to educate
business owners about their responsibilities and to regulate any unlicensed
business operating outside of California law.
In addition to their
educational efforts, the BOE will be making sure businesses are in
compliance with maintaining proper permits and or licenses, ensuring the State
has accurate information about the type of sales an individual business is
conducting, and answering any questions a business may have. City staff
and the police department are aware of the BOE’s mission and they should not be
visiting any residential homes.
